Just steps from the palm-fringed sandy beach lie the Beachside Courtyard Suites, characterised by high, vaulted ceilings, light, fresh colours, dark wood furnishings and seductive bathrooms featuring ebony, granite and stone vessels – guests having the option to bathe under sun or stars in private bath tubs and showers set amidst a courtyard garden. Jumby Bay’s Pool and Estate Suites feature their own private pool and sun terrace with a selection of larger estate homes available for families seeking extra privacy. Dining options include toes-in-the-sand casual dining at The Verandah, light lunches and snacks at the Pool Grille and fine dining at the Estate House, where Mediterranean-inspired cuisine is served in a setting of colonial-style glamour. This luxury 5 star resort has recently announced its newest culinary experience – The Beach Shack – offering authentic West Indies fare, it is a must-visit for cultivated food mavens. Wellness
Five personal spa suites, including a special duet suite, feature luxurious linens, individual showers and personal relaxation terraces with breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. Treatments integrate native ingredients grown in Jumby Bay’s own gardens, and include bamboo massage, exfoliation and facials in addition to manicures, pedicures and hair salon services. Among the most treasured treatment highlights are the handmade hammocks — where guests float “mid-air,” as massage therapists attend to pressure points in the head, back, hands and feet, releasing tension from the body.
Jumby Bay Beach
This gentle arc of white-powdered sand, fringed with palms and kissed by turquoise waters, encapsulates everything about Jumby Bay’s chilled-out charm.
The island’s iconic half-mile stretch of beach is lined with thatched bohios under which guests can lounge in the shade on cushioned chaises. Alternatively, a sprinkling of hammocks, strung between the palms, beckons. Or a sun chair that invites you to dip your feet into the softly lapping sea. Or the Beach Bar, a traditional open bungalow that sits midway on the shore.
Whatever your chosen perch, you’ll find cocktails, cold water, culinary treats and fresh towels on hand — serviced by Jumby Bay’s beach attendants, who will invariably hand you a frozen daiquiri or fresh-fruit smoothie before you even think to request one. Enjoy it. And soak up those last golden rays as you see the sun set over Antigua.
Watersports
The pristine beaches and crystal waters of Jumby Bay lend themselves to a variety of complimentary water sports, including waterskiing, paddle boarding, snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing and kayaking. Morning snorkeling trips to nearby Bird Island are offered weekly. Beach attendants are available to assist with water sport lessons.
Cedar Valley Golf Course
The beautifully constructed Cedar Valley Golf Course was designed and built by Ralf Aldridge, opening with just 9 holes in 1970 and completed its 18 holes course in 1977 as Antigua’s sole 18 holes championship Golf Course. This beautiful par 70, 6157-yds golf course lies amidst mature tropical tree vistas on hills and the Caribbean Sea, providing an enjoyable and challenging game of golf. It accommodates players of all skill levels within a breathtaking scenery for a memorable golfing experience.
Tennis
The Jumby Bay Tennis Club is comprised of three courts, two of which can be lit for evening play. Courtside amenities include complimentary iced water, sports beverages and towels. Director of Tennis and resident pro, Jerry Williams, is a Davis Cup veteran, and has played with the world’s top-ranked players, including Steffi Graf, Chanda Rubin and Mary Pierce, all of whom have been guests at Jumby Bay.
