Red Siena. Brick palaces, stone towers and fabolously decorated churches are strung out on three reefs at the southers end of the Chianti hills. Free for lunch. We recomend to taste homamade pasta from cucina povera or the classic ribollito. Walk the cobble, narrow streets towards the cathedral and Baptisery as they are really pearls of the Italian Gothic. Don’t forget to drink the afternoon espresso on Il Campo. Take some time for shopping. Sleepover near the city.

If any of the provinces got blessing from Bahk’s, that was probably the hilly area south of Siena. Dry clay soil is ideal for Mediterranean plants: vines and olives. From this area come two of the most famous wines: Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. The hills around Pienza are covered with grass and there are many grazing sheep. From their milk they produce the best cheese called pecorino. Rounding medieval hill towns are full of old houses, avenues of cypress, Renaissance palaces, Siena School altar statues and Etruscan graves.
